Today, members of the UFA had the privilege of attending the street renaming ceremony in Islip, NY, honoring FDNY hero Firefighter Billy Moon of R2. We are deeply honored & grateful that his legacy will live on forever. Thanks to the community of Islip for this heartfelt tribute.

In the last 16 years, I have spent countless hours

In the last 16 years, I have spent countless hours researching my families genealogy and have identified dozens of ancestors who have served our great nation in the armed forces. All the way back to the Revolutionary War in the fight for our independence.

We are just 2.5 years away from celebrating our 250th anniversary.

On this Pearl Harbor Day, 82 years later, at 5am , I find my mind wandering and pondering about where we are and where we have come as a nation and what have I done to be a good American.

One of my lifelong "faults" is the feeling that I "never do enough" or I never made "enough" of a difference. I know that might sound hokie, but it's true and for those of you that "really" know me, know that to be true!

I ask GOD everyday to help me become a better man, husband, father, person and in recent years, elected official. I pray he gives me the strength to persevere and I hope that when my time on this earth comes to an end, that I have made a difference.

God bless the men and woman who have made a difference in defending this nation and for those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice by laying down their lives!

A little Wittman family history..... when I was growing up, my paternal grandmother, Mildred (Cooper) Wittman, always read me stories about our founding fathers, the American revolution, etc.

One of her favorite stories/person (mine too) was Paul Revere, his midnight ride (April 18th 1775) (BTW-that was yesterday-248 years ago!!!-very cool), his occupation as a silversmith, his contribution to the Revolution, etc.

She had always told me that she wanted to travel to Boston to see Paul Revere's house and that one day, she was going to take me. Needless to say, she passed away before she ever got the chance.

Luckily, all these years later, her great-granddaughter, Catherine MILDRED Wittman, (her name sake) and I were able to cross this off my bucket list, during my daughter's 7th grade class trip. Miss you Gram.

As many of you know, my family on my Dad's side, moved from NYC to Brentwood in the early 1870's and I was the last to move out when I sold my house in 2017. So you can imagine that the town of Brentwood holds a special place in my heart.

Kevin Surdi is running for NYS Assembly that represents a large portion of Brentwood. I have gotten to know him very well this past 6-8 months and I highly recommend those voters who live in his district to cast their vote for him this November.

As a town-wide elected official, Andy Wittman - Receiver of Taxes, Town of Islip, who ran for office last year, I spent countless hours in the Brentwood community knocking door to door in order to introduce myself to voters. In speaking with many of you, the common thread I heard was, as big of a town that Brentwood is, many of you feel no representation or underrepresented. I am confident that someone of Kevin's character will be that elected official who can step into that position and bring transparency and accountability to this position.

As of this moment, he has NO OPPONENT, and that is because his "would be opponent" is seeking a higher office while maintaining his current position. Something that shouldn't be happening, but due to the disfunction of Albany and the "screw-up" of redistricting, has that ability.

We are all in different financial circumstances, however, if you are able to attend his fundraiser tonight or contribute even $5 - $10 to his campaign, every little bit helps.

Yesterday, my office staff and I Andy Wittman - Receiver of Taxes, Town of Islip, were the monthly recipients of 103.1 MAX FM "Max's Hungry Employees of the Month". Special thanks to our own Tracey Lynch-Sierra, who entered our office into the contest.

We enjoyed a "healthy" amount of food, provided by Chiddy's CheeseSteaks. The food was delicious and its safe to say, very filling!!!

We WON!!! We did it!!!

Yesterday, the final districts reported in and we came across the finish line with a 65% to 35% victory!!!

Around 1130pm election night, my opponent reached out to concede, congratulated me on the win and wished me much success. I want to publicly thank him for running a great race and moreover, acting like a gentleman during the entire process.

To say the last 48hrs have been a whirlwind, is an understatement! Over the years, I have been involved in so many different campaigns and until YOU are the one that's running, you can't fully grasp the process.

Lastly, I just want to take the opportunity to thank EVERYONE!!! Whether you were a voter, donor, volunteer, my family, friend, my campaign manager, Joe Stassi, Treasurer, Erika, my wife & kids, etc ........ you ALL played a part and deserve to share this win. We could not have done this without each and everyone of you.

I know so many of you have been calling, texting and pm'ing me since Tuesday night......it's amazing and I thank you. I promise to get back to each and everyone of you. Thank you (again) to EVERYONE and I promise to continue to be the person you all know me to be.
